Earlier this week, the Victorian government announced a new $200 million stimulus package to support struggling businesses across the state, offering Victorians cash back on dining, travel and entertainment in part of a huge new voucher program.

While it includes huge discounts on dining and entertainment that we can all enjoy, it’s the return of the hugely popular travel voucher program that’s heart-pounding with $30 million allocated to inspire Victorians to vacation at home, in the region and in the metropolis of Victoria.

“We encourage Victorians to experience the best of the state by going to see a show, having lunch with friends or visiting somewhere new,” said Martin Pakula, Minister for Support and Recovery of Industry.

“Business and consumer confidence is critical to our continued economic recovery and that’s why we’re investing in these programs to provide a boost where it’s needed most.”

The travel voucher program will open March 23, 2022 for travel between April 8 and May 27 with 150,000 vouchers available, so submit this annual leave request.

Just like previous tours, each voucher is worth $200 and can be used when you spend $400 on accommodation, experiences or corporate tours in Victoria.

Vouchers will be limited to one per household and travelers will be required to present receipts to receive reimbursement.

The program operates on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and the round will end once all seats have been filled for that particular round – and so far this has taken around 15 minutes. So you better be quick. Victorians will register on the Business Victoria website and, if successful, will receive a link to redeem the voucher when their journey is complete. Vouchers will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Importantly, an additional 10,000 vouchers will be reserved for older people in Victoria, who will be released by ballot. Voting for Victorian Seniors travel vouchers will open on March 15 for travel between April 8 and May 27.

Seriously, set the alarms: March 23, 2022.
