Track & Field Announces Full 2022-23 Competition Schedule




UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania. – Penn State’s track and field team announced its 2022-23 indoor/outdoor competition schedule with five total home meetings.

The head coach John Gondak is excited for many opportunities to perform well this year.

“I’m delighted with the way we have set our schedule for the upcoming season,” Gondak said. “It gives us great opportunities to be successful at home and away. We have fantastic teams coming to our home invitations this year and our travel trips are fixtures that have had results in the past that can pushing our student-athletes to be the I expect both programs to continue to improve this winter and spring and I think we are going to see incredible results.

The Nittany Lions open the indoor season with a trip to Bucknell for the Bison Opener on Dec. 3. Last season, Penn State picked up multiple wins throughout the weekend in a strong start to the campaign and will look to do so again this year. .

On Dec. 10, the Nittany Lions host their annual blue and white Intrasquad scrimmage before continuing their regular-season competitive slate.

Penn State is set to host the Nittany Lion Challenge for its home opener on Jan. 14. The Nittany Lions travel to Blacksburg, Va., Jan. 20-21 for the Hokie Invitational before returning to Happy Valley for the Penn State National Open on Jan. 27-28 and the Sykes Sabock Invitational on Feb. 4.

On February 10 and 11, the Nittany Lions will split the team and travel to both the Music City Invitational in Nashville, Tenn., as well as the Valentine Invite at Boston University.

Wrapping up the indoor regular season slate, the Nittany Lions host the Penn State Tune Up on Feb. 17, then travel to Notre Dame for invite Alex Wilson on Feb. 18.

The indoor playoffs kick off with the Big Ten Championships Feb. 24-25 in Geneva, Ohio.

The NCAA championships will take place on March 10 and 11, a week before the start of the outdoor season.

Penn State’s outdoor competition schedule begins at the Penn Springtime Invitational on March 18. The game begins a 10-game road streak for the Nittany Lions. The list is highlighted by appearances at the Raleigh Relays from March 23-25, the Duke Invitational from April 6-8 and the prestigious Penn Relays from April 27-29.

The Nittany Lions play their only home away game of the season on May 5 when they host the Jim Thorpe Open, which also marks the final meeting of the regular season.

The playoffs begin with the Big Ten Championships from May 12-14, followed by the NCAA First Round from May 24-27, then the NCAA Championships from June 7-10.
