The Samajwadi party on Sunday denounced the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh led by Yogi Adityanath for failing to deliver on its poll promise to give free gas cylinders to beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme on Holi and Diwali, a charge the party denies in power.
Replying to the opposition SP, BJP leader Manish Shukla accused him of lying and said: “The government of Uttar Pradesh is number one in the country when it comes to delivering on the promises made to the public.”
The Samajwadi party shared a video from Kanpur Dehat on its Twitter account in which Ujjwala Yojana recipients allegedly said they had not received free gas cylinders during Holi and Diwali.
“The Adityanath government is the first to make false promises. At the time of the elections, the BJP had promised to give a free bottle to the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala program on Holi and Diwali, but no one got it,” said the SP in a tweet. in Hindi.
In response, BJP’s Shukla said, “The Yogi Adityanth government works for the poor and development has been brought to everyone.”
He mocked SP leader Akhilesh Yadav, saying the opposition leader had made AAP official Arvind Kejriwal his role model for lying.
“The state government’s past record of delivering on the promises has been excellent. The government has been re-formed for five years and gradually all the promises will be kept,” Shukla said.
