Afghanistan lost to Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in a Group 1 game in Brisbane on Tuesday. The defeat saw the side led by Mohammed Nabi knocked out of contention for the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. Since it was a must-have game for Afghanistan, their star player Rashid Khan gave it his all on the pitch, aiming to get a favorable result for his team. He scored 9 carries on 8 balls and returned 2-for-31 numbers in four overs before getting injured trying to save a boundary.

It was the first ball from the penultimate on which Dhananjaya de Silva played a hard shot that went past the defensive midfielder. Rashid Khan, who was stationed in the middle of the deep wicket, ran to his left and slid to his right knee to save the boundary. During the process, the rotation assistant got injured. He was taken off the ground after the physio checked him.
