Rajat Patidar, Shahbaz Ahmed and Mohammed Siraj in the Indian squad for ODIs vs South Africa

Keeping in mind the T20 World Cup, the Indian squad have announced their squad for the upcoming 3 game ODI series against South Africa and there will be plenty of new faces to feature in the blue shirt this time with the squad for the T20 World Cup leaving for Australia on October 6.

Shikhar Dhawan will lead the Team India lines while Shreyas Iyer has been sworn in as vice-captain. However, the biggest surprises for the teams were a few new faces who impressed heavily in India’s recently concluded series against New Zealand A, Rajat Patdar and Mukesh Kumar.

Apart from Patidar, there will be a few other Royal Challengers who will make the squad in the form of Mohammed Siraj and the versatile Shahbaz Ahmed who has made the national team before but is yet to make it. his debut in the eleven game in Blue.

RCB number three Rajat Patidar has been in scintillating form since arriving in the Rouge et Or in 2022. The final browning of his already distended glow was in the unofficial Test and ODI series against New Zealand A as he was hitting a 176 in the Test series opener while backing it up with an undefeated 109 in the third Test. He was also in sublime touch in the Ranji Trophy where he finished as the tournament’s second top scorer.

Mukesh Kumar was also in phenomenal contact where he put together some crucial spells, showcasing an utterly impressive fife in Round 1 in Bangalore against New Zealand A and won a few four irons in the Ranji Trophy and the Trophy Irani combined. The first ODI is set to be played at Ekana Sports City in Lucknow on October 6, which would see a new Indian side face off against the fearsome Proteas.
