Loading up for a duel against a young, rising defensive unit

Derek Carr vs. Trevor Lawrence

Something tells me we could have another quarterback duel on our hands in Jacksonville this Sunday.

The Raiders and Jaguars have done a lot this offseason to bolster the offense around their quarterbacks. Derek Carr now has Pro Bowl receiver and college teammate Davante Adams by his side, and they’ve connected for five touchdowns on the season. Trevor Lawrence has two outstanding receivers in Christian Kirk and former Raiders receiver Zay Jones, as well as his former college running back Travis Etienne Jr., who had an impressive start to the season after missing his entire rookie year due to a foot injury.

The seasons of both quarterbacks mirrored each other from a statistical and record perspective. The two come into this matchup with two wins and over 62% completion. Carr threw for nine touchdowns and five interceptions while Lawrence threw for 10 touchdowns and six interceptions.

“For me, it’s just about making sure I’m on time with my throws, that my eyes are in the right place,” Carr said, giving an assessment of himself. “Throughout my career that’s how I’ve always been, make sure you start with your eyes in the right place and try to get an accurate throw on time. That’s how you get those where you throw it and get hit or things like that. It’s part of the game, they’re gonna get to it at some point. I can’t speak for everyone, but I can speak for me, as it is how I go about it.
