Breathtaking batting performances were seen at the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which ended with England lifting the trophy after beating Pakistan in the final. We take a look at the top ten scorers in the competition.

Virat Kohli – 296 tracks

The Indian slugger finished as the competition’s leading points scorer with 296 points to his name, at a sensational average of 98.66. Kohli beat four fifty-somethings during the tournament, including a magic 82* on 53 deliveries against Pakistan.

Max O’Dowd – 242 runs

The Dutch striker has delivered outstanding performances throughout this T20 World Cup. His batting exploits helped the Netherlands qualify for the Super 12. O’Dowd scored two 50s during the competition, including a best of an unbeaten 71 from 53 deliveries against Sri Lanka.

Suryakumar Yadav – 239 runs

The Indian mid-level hitter entertained everyone with his unorthodox hitting style. He combined flair with consistency as he averaged 59.75 during the event, while scoring at a stunning 189.68 strike rate. His 68 from 40 deliveries against South Africa, albeit in a losing cause, was probably his best run in this T20 World Cup.

Highlights of Indian star Suryakumar Yadav so far at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Jos Buttler – 225 tracks

The England skipper was slow to get going but he hit form at the right time, scoring 73 goals from 47 deliveries in a crucial Super 12 clash against New Zealand and going unbeaten 80 from 49 deliveries in the semi-finals against India. Buttler gave England a regular start and even played an important role in the final against Pakistan.

Kusal Mendis – 223 tracks

The top-notch hitter was key in helping Sri Lanka qualify for the Super 12. Mendis amassed his carries at an average of 31.85 and a strike rate of over 140. He scored two fifty winners during the tournament, one against the Netherlands in the first round and another against Ireland in the Super 12.

Sikandar Raza – 219 tracks

The versatile veteran was seen at the peak of his batting abilities again as he finished as Zimbabwe’s top scorer in this T20 World Cup. Raza’s 82 on 48 deliveries against Ireland was one of the best shots of this event and he continued to play crucial cameos throughout the tournament.

Nissanka also played an important role for Sri Lanka at the top of the table. While Mendis was the aggressor, Nissanka was the stabilizing force in their partnerships. He played two vital shots of 74 and 67 against UAE and England respectively, but the shot against England was top notch as it came at a time when other Lankan batters failed to deliver.

Alex Hales – 212 runs

The English striker has put all his experience into play in this World Cup. Hales was England’s second top scorer and he had two great shots during the tournament, including his stunning 86* from 47 deliveries in the semi-final against India. This shot took the Indian bowlers completely by surprise as he continued to crush them relentlessly.

Lorcan Tucker – 204 tracks

The young striker realized his talent and potential by finishing Ireland’s top scorer in this World Cup. Tucker scored 204 points at an average of 40.80, including a best of 71* against Australia in the Super 12.

Glenn Phillips smashes 64 balls 104 to help New Zealand post a strong tally against Sri Lanka in their 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup clash.

Glenn Phillips – 201 runs

The mid-ranked hitter played a key role in helping New Zealand chart their way to the semi-finals. Phillips scored a century of victories against Sri Lanka and followed that up with another brilliant 63 against England. He scored his points at an excellent average of 40.20 while hitting an exceptional strike rate of 158.26.
