ICC T20 World Cup 2022: If I Was Running Indian Cricket, I Would Swallow My Pride…

Michael Vaughan

The England cricket team won a thrilling T20 World Cup final against Mighty Pakistan. England were quite disciplined in their approach to bowling as they gave virtually no gifts to Men in Green. England would feel they didn’t have a complete victory over India where they were running the game altogether.

England have also ended their 12-year wait as they have now joined the West Indies in the elite list of two-time T20 World Cup winners. England had great bowling as well as batting depth, thanks to which they were not dependent on a single individual.

Michael Vaughan on India

Michael Vaughan wrote in his Telegraph column and made some strong points about the Indian cricket team.

This group of English whiteball players is extraordinary and, for once, English cricket has a forward-thinking team that the rest of the world should emulate. How is England doing her business? What are they doing? If I was leading Indian cricket I would swallow my pride and look to England for inspiration,” said Michael Vaughan.

“Since they won 50 World Cup wins, what have they done? Nothing. India have been playing a white ball game that has been going on for years, India is the white ball team worst performer in history. Every player in the world who goes to the Indian Premier League says how it improves their game, but what have India ever delivered?” he added.

Questionable batting intent

Fly-half KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma were unable to give India a good start throughout the tournament. Because of which the men in Blue were always behind in the game. India need to make sure they score at least 50 odd runs in the overs on the power play which will give the team a solid chance in the game.

The team was far too dependent on Suryakumar Yadav to provide the finishing touches. Maybe India should now invest in versatile fast bowlers. It would be interesting to see if there is a change in leadership as Rohit Sharma is nearing the end of his career.
