How Pakistan can qualify for T20 World Cup semi-finals after bitter defeat to Zimbabwe

pakistan, t20 world cup

Zimbabwe beat Pakistan by one point in a final thriller to record their first Super 12 win at the T20 World Cup.

Pakistan, who were beaten by rivals India in their opening game, now see their tournament hopes in tatters after failing to achieve a modest goal of 131 against Zimbabwe at Perth Stadium.

Zimbabwe’s victory now makes Pakistan’s equation in Group 2 to qualify for the semi-finals interesting.

First, Pakistan must win their remaining three matches.

Second, the men in green need to win all three games by a big margin to maintain a healthy net run rate.

Third, they must hope for more results to come their way, including South Africa’s loss to India and Pakistan.

Zimbabwe lose their two out of three remaining matches (against India, the Netherlands and Bangladesh)

Moreover, they have to hope that Bangladesh will lose another game.

Here are the remaining matches of Group 2, Super 12 stage

October 30 – Bangladesh v Zimbabwe, Netherlands v Pakistan and India v South Africa

November 2 – Zimbabwe v Netherlands and India v Bangladesh

November 3 – Pakistan vs South Africa

November 6 – South Africa v Netherlands, Pakistan v Bangladesh and India v Zimbabwe
