Formula E track to be ready by end of November

Hyderabad: Special Chief Secretary for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD), Arvind Kumar on Wednesday inspected the ongoing works being undertaken by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) near Hussain Sagar Lake here for the Formula E race which will be held next year.

Formula E will visit India for the very first time with a race scheduled in Hyderabad on February 11, 2023. It will be the first time that a major international racing event will be held in the country since the Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix in October. 2013 at the Buddh International Circuit.

On September 25, a Formula E car was on display at the city’s Tank Bund. Over the next few months, the automobile will be on display at various locations around the city. To raise awareness across the country, plans are underway to drive the automobile to other major cities.

On September 28, a four-member team from the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, led by Event Director Marco G, was on a three-day visit to the city to inspect the track and the proposed layouts.

The four-member team visited the proposed site for Formula E (NTR Marg, NTR Memorial and garden, Peoples plaza, etc.) and inspected the layout of the race track and other related facility sites such such as Paddock, Emotion club, E-Village, etc.

In addition, the HMDA makes arrangements and takes measures to ensure the safety of cars, drivers and spectators. Black paving will be done on the road around Hussain Sagar Lake. Various safety tests will also be carried out to ensure the track is foolproof for next year’s Formula E race in Hyderabad.

Formula E is the motorsport par excellence in the field of electric vehicles. It will be held in the city on February 11 next year. Hyderabad was chosen as one of the 12 cities in the world. The track will be a street racing track and will tentatively be 2.5 kilometers long.

The Formula E Prix has held 100 races since its launch in 2014, making it one of the sporting events in the world with the fastest rate of expansion.
