Best Scary Free Mobile Horror Games (2022) to Play This Halloween

[ad_1]

If you’re looking for a powerful horror game for your phone just in time for Halloween, look no further than this short list of best free scary mobile games currently available on iOS or Android. Sure, you can bring a Nintendo Switch or a Steam Deck as a portable console, but you might not want to lug around something that heavy or expensive.

Also, it’s important to note that this list will only contain games released within the last 12 months. There are many similar lists that include horror games that have been around for a long time now. And while titles like Dead by Daylight Mobile, Limbo, and Five Nights at Freddy’s are still solid picks, you’ve probably heard of them at least a few times before. We’re guessing you’re looking for something new to spook you.

Endless Nightmare 2: Hospital

Download link: Google Play and App Store

Developer 707 Interactive has been busy with the Endless Nightmare series. This second episode follows a patient named Jake who finds himself waking up in a hospital (surprise, surprise) as he investigates why people are going missing in Oak Town. You will need to collect items to solve puzzles and pull out a knife or gun to defeat the spooky ghosts. If you don’t have weapons on hand, you’ll need to hide in a cabinet or anywhere else to avoid ghosts completely. Fortunately, there are also other episodes available for download, with the series having a total of four episodes.

Horror Tale 1: Kidnapper

Download link: Google Play and App Store

Although not as popular on iOS as it is on Android, Horror Tale 1: Kidnapper is a promising first installment in a miniseries from Euphoria Horror Games. The game lets you explore Lakewatch and solve the mystery of missing children. You’ll have to solve tricky puzzles and fortify your tree house while fending off a creepy kidnapper with a spooky bunny mask. Rated E10+ and already garnering over 500,000 downloads, the game has an astonishingly high average score of 4.6 out of 5 stars in the Google Play store. If you enjoy this first episode, you can pre-register for the second episode titled Samantha.

The baby in yellow

Download link: Google Play and App Store

Okay, we’ve been cheating with this one a bit since this spooky sim released in March 2021, but developer Team Terrible has updated it with a Halloween-appropriate update called Bedtime Stories. Originally made over two days during a game jam, The Baby in Yellow has you playing a babysitter who has to take care of unruly children, to say the least. With over 50 million downloads to date, this cute-but-really-not-so-cute game features puzzles, plenty of jump alerts, five chapters of content, and ragdoll physics. The Bedtime Stories update adds new decorations for the house and a new pumpkin outfit for the baby, as if it should be more spooky.

Mr. Meat 2: Prison Break

Download link: Google Play and App Store

Last but not least is this sequel to 2018’s original Mr. Meat: Horror Escape Room, where you had to escape from a butcher (named Mr. Meat of course) infected with a zombie virus. In this sequel, you instead play Rebecca, Mr. Meat’s daughter, who visits her father on the day of his execution in state prison. As you’d expect, things go wrong and you’ll have to escape the prison as quickly as possible. With over a million downloads through the Google Play store alone, the game features multiple endings, narrative cutscenes, and multiple difficulty settings.
